The Year's Already in Full Swing...

It's only fifteen days into January and already, the year is in full swing. The new chapter board met on January 9th and began planning for a bunch of great events throughout 2007. Following on the heels of last year's many successes, we're not just looking to produce a fantastic rodeo weekend in September... we're shooting for many great opportunities each month to come together as members and have some fun, to do lot's of dancing, to learn more about gay rodeo, and to learn all we can do to support our community. Stay tuned for news on upcoming events as it comes in... we're sure you want to miss a moment of it.

Selection of 2007 Beneficiary

Every year the Bay Area Chapter selects a charity in the Bay Area as the official beneficiary for fundraising efforts throughout the year. With the new year upon us, it's time to take up this important conversation again. All members are encouraged to bring their suggestions for the 2007 beneficiary to the chapter meeting on January 16th for discussion and consideration.

Giddee Up Pardners! - January 20th
A Benefit for the David Watkins Memorial Fund

Join Mr. GSGRA 2006, Stephen Taylor, on the afternoon of Saturday, January 20th from 4 pm to 8 pm for "Giddee Up Parders!" The event is taking place at the Metro City Bar (Market St @ Noe, San Francisco) and is a benefit for GSGRA's David Watkins Memorial Fund. There will be an $8 beverage bust, raffle prizes, lots of great entertainment, and plenty of fun.

GSGRA State Convention: Palm Springs
Friday, January 26th - Sunday, January 28th

Once a year, all four chapters of GSGRA come together for our annual convention. It's the time of year when we elect new officers to the board and vote on changes in our state bylaws. It's also a time of great discussion about the future health and growth of GSGRA.

And this year, it's even more special as it's the same weekend of the GSGRA Royalty Pageant and State Dance Competition. The Greater Palm Springs Chapter has a whole lot of fun in store for everyone. Buckin' Cupid - February 3rd
A Night of Non-Stop Dancing for the LGBT Community

Our quarterly dances in San Francisco were a tremendous hit last year and we're excited to be continuing with them in 2007. Join us for the first big dance of the year on Saturday, February 3rd at the Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco). The non-stop dancing will begin at 8:00 pm and will continue until at least 1:00 am. Admission is $10. All GSGRA members (or those who become members that night) get in for FREE. Don't miss it.

Mark Your Calendars: Grand National Rodeo - April 6th

Plans are underway for another Chapter Night Out at the Grand National Rodeo that's coming to San Francisco in April. We're working on securing a large block of seats for everyone on Friday evening, April 6th. In addition to the livestock show, fabulous shopping, and thrilling pro rodeo events in the main arena, you'll be treated to a concert by Gary Allen. Watch your email in the coming couple of weeks for complete details on how to purchase seats for you and your friends.
