GSGRA State Board Meeting

The Golden State Gay Rodeo Association held their quarterly board meeting in Palm Springs on Saturday March 28, 2009. BAC President Chieko Tomasulo, BAC Treasurer Jeff Harper, and BAC Representatives Allen Register and Joseph Jimenez attended this informative meeting. Among the items of discussion: standardizing the sashes and crowns for chapter and state royalty; GSGRA 25th Anniversary shirt currently being developed; production updates for the upcoming Hot Rodeo (Palm Springs May 1-3) and San Diego Rodeo (September 11-13).

Following the meeting, the GSGRA Royalty Team hosted a fundraiser at Club W in Cathedral City. Over $400 was raised for the David Watkins Memorial Fund .

The next quarterly board meeting will be held in LA on Saturday July 25, 2009. All GSGRA members are welcome to attend. For more information, visit the GSGRA website .

Fundraising at Golden Gate Fields

As previously reported, the BAC has been presented with an unbelievably wonderful opportunity to raise funds while staffing the Golden Gate Fields Dollar Days Booth.

For those of you not familiar with Golden Gate Fields, it is a horse racing track located in North Berkeley. Every Sunday, they host Dollar Days where guests get $1 general admission, $1 parking, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, and $1 sodas.

In return for staffing the Dollar Days Booth, Golden Gate Fields donates funds back to the BAC. We still need volunteers for 4/19/09 and 6/07/09. If you're interested, please contact Skot Land.

REMINDER: Bay Area Rodeo Royalty Competition
April 19, 2009 6:00 pm at Marlena's Bar

Every year the Bay Area Chapter holds a competition for the titles of Mr., Ms., MsTer, and Miss Bay Area Rodeo. The contest is adapted from the International Gay Rodeo Association's royalty contest and involves several aspects including Personal Interview, Public Presentation, Western Wear, Entertainment, Horsemanship, and Fundraising. The winning contestants and the first runner up for each title form the royalty team. The team plays a vital role representing the chapter throughout the year, helping other community organizations, and raising money for charity. Don't miss this year's competition...it's certain to be a great one!

Social Networking

The BAC has moved into the Social Networking Arena. We can now be found on Facebook and MySpace. Check it out for yourself!
