Rodeo Education

Just like any sport, Rodeo takes time and practice in order to do it right. Part of the GSGRA Bay Area Chapter focus is to educate others on the country-western lifestyle, and one of the many ways we do that is through Rodeo. Twice a year, we offer a Rodeo School that our members and friends can attend where they can learn the art of Rodeo from true rodeo professionals. We have three other GSGRA chapters, as well as our sister assocation in Sacramento (Capital Crossroads Gay Rodeo Association), that also hold rodeo schools throughout the year. As these rodeo school dates are announced, we will be sure to post them right here as well as send them out on our BAC Blast Newsletter.

There are other rodeo schools that are not affiliated or endorsed by the GSGRA or IGRA but can definitely provide a good education. The GSGRA provides a listing of these schools, indicating if they are gay owned or not.

IGRA University

Want to learn more about rodeo production, chapter operations, web design/development, and country-western dancing? Then IGRA University is just what you are looking for. Held each winter, IGRA University hosts a series of seminars where students earn credits towards Certificates of Achievement (6 credits), Associate Degrees in Rodeo Arts (12 credits), Bachelor Degrees in Rodeo Arts (36 credits), and Masters Degrees in Rodeo Arts (60 credits). Credits may be earned from any series and/or arena workshops, and credits rollover from year to year.

The 2009 IGRA University was held in Las Vegas this past February with five GSGRA Bay Area Chapter members in attendance. The next IGRA University will be held January 15-17, 2010 in Las Vegas. As registration opens up, we will post the information here as well as send it out on our BAC Blast Newsletter.
